THE PROJECT > BACKGROUND
The draft South East Lincolnshire Local Plan pinpoints The Quadrant sites as key locations for the potential growth of Boston.
The draft South East Lincolnshire Local Plan, which will set out how the Boston Borough and the South Holland District will change and grow up to 2031 – and which will form the basis for decisions on planning applications – is currently being developed.
The emerging Local Plan will have two parts – the ‘Strategy and Policies’ Development Plan Document which is progressing through its consultation process with an anticipated adoption in 2015/16, and the ‘Site Allocations’ Development Plan Document part which is yet to commence its consultation process but will identify sites that will be developed for specific uses in the future.
Within the ‘Strategy and Policies’ Development Plan Document consultation document The Quadrant sites have been identified as the preferred broad location for future growth for Boston.
Although both phases of The Quadrant are being promoted through the Local Plan process, there is an urgent need to relocate Boston United Football Club to a new sustainable location, and there is a current lack of a 5-year housing land supply in the Boston Borough. Therefore, it is felt appropriate to bring a planning application forward now, to address both these issues.
A masterplan (shown to the left) was submitted as part of our planning application that, along with the Design and Access Statement, sets out the vision for Q1, and this will inform the detail of future applications on the development. Click on the masterplan image to enlarge it.
