Q1 Planning Application Approved

06 August 2014

The planning application for Q1 has been approved by Boston Borough Council, with planning committee members voting 10 to 2 in favour at a meeting held yesterday at Haven High Academy.

The plans were recommended for approval by the Council’s Development Control Manager. There were no statutory objections to the proposal and the Council received more letters in support than against from members of the public.

David Newton, Managing Director of Chestnut Homes, says “Naturally, we are delighted with the decision. The Quadrant not only secures a home for Boston United Football Club and its valued community programme, but it provides much needed housing, employment and vital financial contributions to local education and healthcare services.

“We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from the public throughout this process, and I would particularly like to thank those who took the time to write to the Council and those who spoke in favour of the proposal at the meeting.

“This was a big decision to make and an important one for the whole of Boston and the borough. We are pleased that committee members see that The Quadrant is a vital part of the future growth of Boston. We look forward to progressing our plans further and we will continue to keep the community engaged at every stage.”

Next steps will include finalising the ‘conditions’ of the planning permission which were drawn up by the Council’s Development Control Manager and agreed by the planning committee members at the meeting. Work could then start on the Community Stadium and access in early 2015. Detailed proposals for the residential and commercial elements of the project will also be brought forward.

The Secretary of State will now decide whether or not to ‘call in’ the application to determine it himself. However if he decides not to do this, the decision made by the planning committee stands.
